Efforts are on by everybody for the last few days to restore peace in the Berhampur University campus. Afraid of this, some nonstudents, instigated by antisocial elements, are trying to sabotage the peace process, said university Students’ Union president Ratan Kumar Sethi on Tuesday.
As a result, the students, who have come from far flung areas and studying in the university, are being affected because most of them are inmates of the university’s hostels. It might be mentioned here that university authorities had evicted some non students from the hostels in the campus, Sethi said.
The university Students’ Union has supported the move and said that there are no doubts that this would ensure a healthy environment and the students have welcomed it. But it is unfortunate that the non students are trying to create conflict among the students and the hostels and trying to benefit out it, he said.
The union demands that the hostel inmates should be provided security and there should be a ban on entry of outsiders. The union has requested all students to sport black badges on December 1 to protest against the goodaraj in the university campus, said Sethi.
