The provisions of Pre Conception & Pre Natal Diagnostic Test Act were being strictly followed in Himachal Pradesh and stringent action was being taken against the clinics violating the Act, Director Health Safety and Regulation (DHS&R) Raman Kumar Sharma said in a meeting of State Advisory Committee, here on Monday
He said that the state and District level committees conducted 602 inspections of 265 ultrasound clinics operational in Himachal during 2015-2016 and warnings were issued for the shortcomings whereas action was initiated against those violating the Act. He asked the officers concerned for conducting at least four inspection of each clinic in a year. He said that as many as six appeals had been decided, where as few such appeals were sub judice.
Sharma said various Government agencies were working towards bringing in improvement in the sex ratio. He said that mindset of people need to be changed towards girl child, simultaneously awareness campaign should be undertaken for eradication of social evils like female foeticide involving PRIs, NGOs and people in general.
Nodal Officer PC&PNDT Dr. Mahesh Jaswal conducted the meeting. Prof. and Head Radiology IGMC De R.G. Sood, Dr. A. Pal, Joint Director Prosecution Ashwani Dhiman, Dr. Awadhi Gupta from NRHM, Joint Director Health Dr. Gupta and Under Secretary law Ms. Saroj Negi were committee members present.
