There is no letup in the blame game between the BJP and the BJD over the ‘Teacher on Call’ plan with saffron party leader Dharmendra Pradhan saying the State Government can’t evade the main issue of vacancy in schools and its responsibility to appoint unemployed trained BEd and CT youths as regular teachers.
Reacting on the statement of School and Mass Education Minister Debi Prasad Mishra that the State Government’s decision to adopt the ‘Teacher on Call’ initiative was taken after due deliberations with the Union HRD Ministry, the Union Minister wanted to know whether the Ministry suggested to engage retired teachers overlooking unemployed trained BEd and CT candidates in schools.
“The issue is the large-scale vacancies in schools. The State Government should provide information on the number of teachers’ posts vacant in the State and how many teachers have so far been appointed,” said Pradhan.
He further said that the lion’s share of the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) fund is coming from the Central Government.
On Tuesday, School and Mass Education Minister Debi Prasad Mishra hit back at Pradhan on his Ola-Uber comment and said the State Government held deliberations with the Union HRD Ministry about the ‘Teacher on Call’ plan.
