Information Technology and e-Governance Department Secretary Sunil Kumar Barnwal on Friday said that the State was heading towards being Cashless State well ahead of most others at a thrilling speed. Sharing details of DigiDhan Mela scheduled to be organised on January 1, 2017 at Morhabadi Ground, he said that the government has decided to install Wi-fi devices on mobile towers in rural areas to address connectivity related issues.
The State government in association with NITI Ayog and Department of Information & Technology is organising DigiDhan Mela within premises of ongoing Khadi and Saras Mela at Morhabadi Ground on New Year. The event is aimed at encouraging more and more individuals and traders to go for cashless mode of payments in their daily activities. Chief Minister Raghubar Das, Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh and Minister of State for Agriculture Sudarshan Bhagat are expected to grace the occasion.
Barnwal said that customers making maximum number of transactions and of maximum volume through cashless mode during certain period will be awarded in DigiDhan Mela under lucky Grahak Yojna. At the same time, traders scoring high at receiving payments through cashless mode will also be awarded during DigiDhan Mela under DigiDhan Karobar Yojna.
The traders and customers will be awarded by NPCI. A lucky draw for same traders and customers will take place on April 14 next year at the occasion of birth anniversary of Baba Saheb Bheemrao Ambedkar, in which selected persons will be awarded with bigger gifts. “We are also organising an awareness camp during Mela. Over 4,000 people are expected to come in awareness camp including 1,000 each from traders, Pragya Kendra employees, Business Correspondents of various banks working in rural areas and common people. Banks, fertiliser companies, financial institutions and telecom companies will also be taking part in DigiDhan Mela. Our basic motto is to spread awareness and support traders and customers to go for cashless transactions,” said Barnwal in Soochna Bhawan while sharing details of the Mela.
However, celebrities deeply rooted with Jharkhand from different fields are going to remain main attraction of the Mela. “We are trying to get locally connected celebrities from different fields like sports, movies and others to come and promote cashless transaction during Mela,” said Barnwal
The Secretary said that Jharkhand was well ahead of rest of the States as far as campaigning aggressively and promoting cashless transaction was concerned. “The union government has kept a target to educate at least 40 people and 10 traders every Panchayat per month for cashless transaction. And we have succeeded to get 300 individuals and traders educated for cashless transaction every block every month, which means we have achieved a growth of over 600 per cent which is ahead of all the states in percentage terms,” claimed Barnwal.
