Punjab Rural Development & Panchayats Department will organise State level Sports Festival of Panchayati Raj Institutions on April 2 and 3. Punjab Minister for Rural Development & Panchayats, Sikander Singh Maluka on Wednesday said that the events would be held at Mal Mandi near Sports Stadium Rampura Phul (Bathinda). He said that competitions would be held in different categories for men and women. Also different categories have been formed for holding events of selected members of Panchayati Raj Institutions. Giving further details, Maluka said that the competitions would include Kabbaddi, volleyball, tug of war, short put and athletics. He said that the aim of organising Rural Sports Competition is to inculcate sports culture amongst youth apart from laying stress to maintain physical fitness. The winning teams would be awarded prizes ranging from Rs 51000 to Rs one lakh
