In an attempt to take Uttar Pradesh to a global platform, the SP government will showcase its Film Policy at the Cannes International Film Festival next month.
The Union Information and Broadcasting Ministry had asked the UP government to participate in the Indian pavilion at the Cannes Film Festival. Sources in the UP Film Development Council said that a three-member delegation would be participating at the festival for the first time.
"UP’s participation in the international film festival will enhance the state's image at the global platform. This will not only attract foreign tourists to UP, but also increase job opportunities,” said Film Development Council member Vishal Kapoor to reporters in lucknow.
Kapoor would be part of the three-member delegation representing UP. The other delegates include Gaurav Dwivedi (vice-president of UP Film Development Council) and Yashraj Singh (member).
As per directions of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav all the aspects of the Film Policy would be made known to the film producers so that prominent places of Uttar Pradesh could ne highlighted.
During the festival, Anurag Kashyap's 'Raman Raghav-2' would be screened which is reportedly based on notorious serial killer Raman Raghav. Other prominent persons to represent UP in the festival are Director Sudhir Mishra and actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
The Cannes Film Festival is scheduled to be held in Cannes, France from May 11 to May 22.
