Account holders and other citizens are facing considerable inconvenience due to problems –especially in money transactions—at the post office in Chamba. They complain that they are facing considerable problems at the Chamba post office which has a single-window system and is frequently affected by internet server problem. These problems should be resolved without delay, demanded the account holders.
It is pertinent to mention here that the post office in Chamba is the main centre for people from dozens of villages in addition to the townsfolk. Apart from the account holders living in Chamba town, residents of dozens of villages are holders of savings account, recurring deposit and life insurance in this post office.
However, frequent server problems and single window facility in the Chamba post office, the people have to spend a considerable time waiting in queue in order to deposit or withdraw cash. The people also complain that in such a scenario, at times, some persons do not get their turn to access post office service within one day.
This creates substantial problem especially for people who come to the post office from remote rural areas. Such a scenario was also seen on Wednesday when those who had lined up in the queue in the morning could not access the single-window past the afternoon. Customers Sushila Devi and Radha Devi said that they had dropped their domestic chores and were wanting to withdraw cash for two days now.
However, their chances of being served appeared bleak even after standing in queue for many hours. The post master in charge of Chamba post office Vinod Rawat said that the queue of customers had become longer due to the server problem experienced one day ago. Effort is being made to process the various tasks as soon as possible to prevent further inconvenience to the people, he said.
