The Commissionerate police on Friday busted a sex racket operating under the laxmi Sagar police station and arrested a youth and rescued three sex workers.
Acting on a tipoff, the police conducted a surprise raid at Budheswari Colony and nabbed the four besides seizing many objectionable items.
The arrestees were sent for medical examinations, informed a police official.
While no action was taken against the sex workers, the youth involved in the racket would be sent to jail on Saturday, said sources.
Though the police have busted a number of sex rackets operating in the city and have notorious pimp Sunil Meher in their dragnet, new rackets keep mushrooming in different parts of the city proving to be a headache from the cops.
Girls are being brought from Kolkata, besides some parts of the State for operating the rackets. While earlier the sex trade was confined to a few red light areas of the city, now they are tracked down to beauty parlours, residential areas and some sleazy hotels near the city railway station and the Cuttack Road.
However, the use of mobile phones has made things more difficult for the police to track the pimps who carry out the immoral trade.
