By increasing awareness towards law, the weaker section in the remotest regions could develop feeling of safety and security and this could be achieved by providing safety and security to the victims and witnesses of atrocities, said Superintendent of Police AJK Bhopal Dhananjay Shah at the concluding ceremony of the two-day range level seminar on ‘Sensitization towards Weaker Section’ at PTRI on Tuesday.
SP AJK Shah said that there is need to develop coordination with the weaker sections living in crime prone regions and which could help in developing harmony with the weaker sections. It is required that the cases of people of weaker section in which they are neglected, discrimination, disliked and denial to use public resource should be dealt with sensitization and patience.
legal Officer AJK police head quarters Vijay Bansal shared amendments made in the atrocity act and detailed about the amendment of Chapter 4- A – Rights of victim and witness. Retired DDP PM Shevde provided details of Protection of Children against Sexual Offences Act.
The aim of the seminar was to increase sensitization in the works at ground level by increasing awareness.
In the seminar process of compensation in the cases of atrocities and allowances to witnesses in the cases of weaker sections was shared.
Retired Sub Inspector Rameshchandra Sharma detailed about checking the suspicious caste certificate and how to check the authenticity of the certificate.
The importance of DNA testing in the sexual offences was shared with the participants.
