The Higher secondary schools of Madhya Pradesh will be linked with the Climate Change Awareness Programme. At present, 500 schools including government excellence schools of district and block level, government girls higher secondary schools of district level, all the Jawahar Navodaya Schools and one central School from each district have been included in the programme.
Executive Director Environment Planning and Coordination Organisation Anupam Rajan said this at the inauguration of 5th workshop on Climate Change Awareness Programme of 6 districts at Bhopal today. Senior Scientific Officer Sadhana Tiwari mentioned about the objectives of the workshop. Almost 54 teachers of Bhopal, Sehore, Raisen, Hoshangabad, Betul and Vidisha took part in the workshop held at EPCO premises. Certificates were given to the participant teachers besides kit for 50 students of their schools.
In the first session of the workshop, Environment Education Officer Dilip Chakrawarthy explained through power presentation about climate change, green house gases and source, reasons for increase and its effects. Film titling ‘An Inconvenient Truth’ was also shown to the trainees.
Moreover, information about Climate change, ozone depletion and school activities for climate change awareness was given in the workshop.
It may be mentioned that Climate Change Awareness programme is being conducted by Environmental Planning and Coordination Organisation (EPCO) from September 15 to October 6. Ten teachers from each district are being trained as a climate change leader in the state. Teachers from Jabalpur, Katni, Umaria, Mandla, Dindori, Chhindwara, Seoni, Balaghat, Narsinghpur, Gwalior, Bhind, Morena, Datia, Shivpuri, Guna, Ashoknagar, Rajgarh, Sheopur, Bhopal, Sehore, Raisen, Hoshangabad, Betul and Vidisha districts have been trained till date under the programme.
Under the climate change awareness programme, 50 teachers of Damoh, Panna, Chhatarpur, Tikamgarh and Sagar districts will be imparted training at Sagar on 29 September.
