The Sports Authority of India (SAI) has approved the proposal for establishment of an extension centre of STC/SAG at the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), in the disciplines of Athletics and Archery from the academic session 2016-17.
The centre would have 20 trainees to start with. The selection would be done as per the latest revised guidelines in athletics and archery disciplines. The sports infrastructure and facilities would be maintained on regular basis and upgraded from time to time by the KISS authorities. Sports equipment would be supplied as per the scheme guidelines.
The SAI selected the KISS for its extension centre because of impressive track record of the institute in sports. The KISS authorities give equal emphasis to both, education and sports. Its students have achieved much success in national and international level sports, bringing many laurels to the country and Odisha in Asian Games, Commonwealth Games and South Asian Games. They have also made it to the probable players list for Olympic Games.
The age group of 8-10 years would be selected as the trainees. KIIT and KISS founder Dr Achyuta Samanta thanked the SAI authorities for choosing KISS for their extension centre.
