launching a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Shiromani Akali Dal on Sunday accused its convenor Arvind Kejriwal of indulging in political gimmicks to put a lid over the misgovernance of his government in Delhi and pursuing a “political agenda” under the garb of visiting affected families in the state.
In a statement SAD General Secretary and MP Prem Singh Chandumajra questioned Delhi CM that Punjab had least percentage of drug addicts but the problem was more severe in AAP ruled Delhi state. He said instead of blaming Punjab, Kejriwal should mind his own state.
“He should thank Punjab government for its concerted efforts in seizing huge amounts of drugs coming in from Afghanistan and Pakistan before it could reach Delhi. But Kejriwal doesn’t have that courtesy,” Chandumajra said.
SAD leader categorically said that recent study conducted by the social welfare department and All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) have found that figure to be just 16,620 individuals (0.06%) out of 2.77-crore population instead, it’s Delhi colleges and schools that are full of drug addicts. "Whether it is lSD, ephedrine, cocaine, ketamine or ecstasy, party drugs are easily available in the Capital, as there is no separate narcotics unit and no effective mechanism to detect drugs against smuggling of narcotics into the Capital", he added.
Dubbing Kejriwal a “liar” who only does “dramas” he asked the AAP leader to come clear about the commitments he made before the polls and later backed out and he did not visited his home state Haryana which has been adversely hit by the Jat stir. "That means he has no sympathy with the people of Haryana and touring Punjab is a drama on his part", he added.
On farmer-friendly claims of Kejriwal, the senior SAD leader questioned AAP leader that he had been visiting affected families of farmers in state but why hadn’t he visited the family of Gajendra Singh, a farmer from Rajasthan, who had committed suicide in his presence during AAP rally in the capital.
Slamming the AAP leader for playing theatrical tactics to win over farming community, Chandumajra said the farming issues of Punjab could not be compared with those of Delhi as he was claiming of giving highest compensation for crop damage in NCR. He said Punjab is the only state in the country which is providing free power and paying Rs 6000 crore subsidy to the power utility.
SAD MP said that instead of focusing on his governance, Kejriwal is busy politicking in other parts of the country in a bid to expand his party's base and also for playing cheap gimmicks. He alleged that Kejriwal had formed the AAP on the issue of corruption and brining Jan lokpal bill, however, his record on both these counts is far from satisfactory and even his ministers were forced to resign or sacked after their involvement in corruption came to light.
“This man wears a ‘topi’ and projects himself as an honest person, whereas he is a liar and often backs out of his promises". Chanadumajra said SAD would not allow him to play the double game of stealthily playing the sentiments of farmers.
