Motorcycle –borne armed criminals looted Rs 5 lakh in broad daylight from a banker of Bank of Baroda, Manchhali branch in Dewaria block of Giridih district here on Friday.
According to reports, the incident occurred when the branch manager and cashier of the bank were going to the branch after collecting Rs 5 lakh from the main branch located at the district headquarter in Giridih, police said. Altogether, four criminals on two bikes intercepted his car on the busy Bhelwaghati-Giridih road and looted the money, said police.
The manger tried to resist the looters but they trashed him and escaped with the bag containing the cash, said sources. later, the manager lodged an FIR with the police station concerned.
Officer-in charge of Bhelwaghati police station C Chaudhary said the loot happened due to the negligence of the bank manager who did not seek any police protection while carrying the money said the Officer-in charge adding they were looking into the case from different angles.
Sources said that the criminals were masked and held pistols. After they conducted loot an aide of their arrived with vehicles near the bank which they used to escape from the site, said sources .Giridih SP Akhlesh V Varier said all exit points Bhelwaghati –Giridih have been sealed and search to nab the bank robbers involved in Rs 5 lakhs loot from officials of Bank of Baroda have been intensified .
