Often in the absence of proper urinal facilities or restrooms at public places, people are forced to attend to nature’s call in open. In an attempt to make the Capital City clean while taking the ambitious Swachh Bharat Mission scheme ahead, the civic body is constructing 75 modular toilets with all basic facilities to inculcate healthy habits among the public and to ensure proper sanitation measures as well.
With the purpose to maintain cleanliness, the civic body has demarcated approximately 110 sites in State Capital to set up modular toilets at a radius of five meters at both residential and commercial pockets depending on the population.
Equipped with all basic features, the modular toilets will sort out the crunch of public toilets availability at major itineraries despite the presence of ‘Shulabh Sauchalaya’ in city. Compatibility, feasibility, handy in utilization, the modular toilets have all salient features with ample space inside and has been designed keeping in mind the space crunch along the roadside.
Pasa Resources Pvt. ltd. channel partner of TATA Steel is executing the task of decking up modular toilets at all the demarcated places in Capital City. The work of installing 75 modular toilets in first phase is likely to complete by January 2017.
“Erection of this ready to use built structure made up of steel faster is than any other civil structure at any area irrespective of size and space available. The pre-fabricated structure is easy in maintenance and is durable in comparison to other materials as well,” said, Pasa Resource pvt. ltd. COO, Jaideep Singh.
“After studying several feasible aspects of the city especially locations, RMC officials have figured out 110 such places where modular toilets will be set up. Each toilet covers 16 sq. ft and is equipped with mirrors, washbasins, flush, buckets and mugs. RMC laborers will clean the toilets at a regular gap,” added Singh.
Notably, the service can be availed free of cost by everyone. The commuters are using the modular toilet initiated on a pilot project basis at New Market near Devkamal Hospital. “Only public who avails the facility has to manage it in such a way that it remains clean and tidy. Within six months, the modular toilets will be decked up everywhere in Ranchi to sort out the issue of open defecation,” added Singh.
The Civic Body plans barricading of open space near modular toilets to maintain the place and keep the open area clean. “Almost 25 modular toilets have been set up for public utilization so far. The Nagar Nigam staffs will ensure arrangement of water and cleaning the toilets at a regular interval. Soon all plans will be drafted out regarding this after the installation tasks is over,” added, Deputy Mayor, Sanjeev Vijaywargia.
