A day after Haryana Janhit Congress merged with the Congress party, Haryana Cabinet Minister Anil Vij on Friday took a dig at the merger saying, “The result of zero plus zero will be zero.”
“Congress has zero existence in Haryana while HJC base has already dwindled to zero in State politics. So, zero plus zero will result in zero,” said Health Minister Anil Vij while talking to the mediapersons.
HJC led by Kuldeep Bishnoi had merged with Congress in New Delhi on Thursday in the presence of Congress president Sonia Gandhi, vice president Rahul Gandhi and other senior party leaders.
Responding to the question on the merger of the two parties, Vij also alleged that Congress and HJC had lost their credibility among the people in the state.
The Cabinet Minister claimed that the merger will not benefit Congress in any manner as the party in Haryana was already “divided” in various factions.
Earlier, Vij had also posted on Twitter, “HJC merges with Congress it is like Zero Plus Zero is equal to Zero.”
HJC was floated by former Haryana Chief Minister Bhajan lal in 2007 after he broke away from Congress as he was miffed at being sidelined by the party which preferred Jat leader Hooda as the Chief Minister in 2005.
Reacting to the statement of former Haryana speaker and Congress leader Kuldeep Sharma criticising the State Government on transfers of IAS and IPS officers, he said that Sharma must remember that an honest and senior IAS officer Ashok Khemka was transferred a number of times during the Congress government’s tenure.
Vij added that Congress does not have any right to criticise the government as it had spent ten years while in power either “issuing ClUs (conversion of land use) or humiliating the honest officers”.
He further alleged that the corruption was at its peak during the period of Congress Government and the officers who dared to oppose erroneous orders were transferred frequently.
“The Congress Government had ignored honest and sincere officers for its vested political interest whereas the BJP Government has ensured that sincere officers have been offered due regard and appropriate posting as per their experience and competence,” he added.
