In a bid to create awareness about Digital India programme and its major initiatives through various institutions like DeGS, Digi Sewa Kendras, panchayats, schools, colleges, Haats etc and increase uptake of citizen centric services, Chief Minister Harish Rawat flagged off two vans under Digital India-Digital Uttarakhand - from Bijapur Guest House on Tuesday. These vans will be deployed to cover 13 districts. In each district van will stay for 15-20 days to commence awareness activities. The campaign will run till December 2016.CM Rawat stated that we are moving towards digitalisation. The vans equipped with audio visual facilities, net connectivity and other IEC material will inform and educates citizens in rural areas, specially youth about the various initiatives of Digital India and services being provided by Devbhoomi Janseva Kendra in an interactive manner. The rural citizens will be informed about services at CSC centres, Digital Postal Services, Digital Services by State Government, MyGov, National Scholarship Portal, E-Hospital etc. On site engagement with rural citizens will also be done through quiz and contest and augmented reality game. Rural Youth will also be motivated to register themselves for innovative services of Digital India like MyGov, Digital locker and Aadhaar. A district level committee, headed by District Collector will oversee the ground level execution of this campaign, so as to ensure that maximum benefit its generated out of this campaign.
Rawat said that underground optical fibre network has been set up in many blocks of Uttarakhand. State Government had requested Government of India to lay down optical fibre network through poles in hilly regions of State so that connectivity might not be disturbed during land sliding. Government of India accepted the request. CM added that more resources should be provided to the States as public services might be provided to people through IT easily.
Secretary IT Deepak Gairola informed that various reforms are being implemented in IT sector of State. caste, birth, death, income, domicile and character etc like certificates are being provided through Devbhoomi Janseva Kendra in the State. Wi-fi facility will be provided in all the district headquarters and major tourist places soon. all the Gram Panchayats of Haridwar District will be connected under National Information Structure and National Optical Fibres Network as a pilot project.
