The Ravenshaw University authorities took a decision on Saturday to collect Rs500 for hostel maintenance instead of Rs1,000 from students at the time of admission. After six months, the Hostel General Body would review the income and expenditure of the hostels.
“The university authorities accepted our demands after nine days of day and night strike,” said All India Democratic Students’ Organisation (AIDSO) members in a Press release.
Besides, the authorities cancelled the rule of taking 40 compulsory meals in a month. The no-meal charge was also decreased to Rs2 from Rs3.
The AIDSO members called off their stir after the authorities’ announcement.
AIDSO Ravenshaw University committee secretary Amarendra Nayak congratulated the university authorities for their decision.
