First time in the history of the Paradip Port Trust (PPT), all officers and employees united under a single banner here on Tuesdayand vowed to strictly implement rules and regulations of the PPT to create a peaceful operational ambience and take the port to the top position among all major ports in the country.
“Nobody will be allowed to breach the peace in the Paradip Port and the PPT should ensure smooth port operations so that the port will be in the top position soon,” said employees,
They along with trade unions gave a memorandum to the PPT Chairman in this regard. Heads of all the Departments, Class I, II and III employees and all trade union leaders marched in a mass rally to the administrative building where they organised a meeting.
Trade Union leaders Jatikanta Behera, Bibhuti Maharana, Dola Gobinda Das, Bijay Kumar Rath and officers represented by Sriman Narayan Mishra spoke about problems in the port operations. They slammed some business houses for disrupting cargo handling work and creating disturbances in the Port Town.
They all promised to remain united and work for the PPT to take it to the number one position in the country. Expecting the PPT Chairman, all officials participated in the rally.
It may be noted that cargo handling work had been stopped for a week in the port because of rivalry among stevedoring companies.
