Power cables along the metro route will go under ground. A direction in this regard was given by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav in lucknow on Wednesday.
"All power lines along the metro route will go under ground and all electric contraptions like transformers will also be shifted. The area around the metro rail route should be cable free,” Chief Minister said in his directive.
The total cost of the project will be Rs 138 crores and all by-lanes near the metro route will also be free of overhead electric cables.
Yadav said that the Metro Rail work on the Airport to Charbagh railway station line is in progress and the track will be elevated in this route.
"If electric cables are pushed underground it will add to the beauty of the area. This will also ensure uninterrupted power supply during rains or thunderstorm. So it has been decided that power lines along Metro route will go underground and the work will be completed by October,” Yadav said.
A government spokesman said that the technical details of this project has been worked out. One side of the metro route will have a trench of 9.5 km while the other will have a trench of 7.5 km. The 33 kv and 11 kv lines will be used as under ground cable. The open transformers would be replaced by package type transformers.
"The route will have 19 transformers of 1000 kva and 32 package type transformers of 750 kva. The land for digging trenches along both sides of metro lines will be provided by PWD, NHAI and Nagar Nigam,” the spokesman said.
