Plan drafted to regulate traffic on New Year's eve

In view of tourists reaching Mussoorie to celebrate the advent of the New Year celebrations on Saturday night, a traffic plan has been drafted to regulate traffic on the occasion. The superintendent of police, Traffic, DS Gunjyal said on Friday that the entry of heavy vehicles and tourist buses had been banned from Dehradun to Mussoorie from Saturday noon. Vehicles coming from Haridwar/Rishikesh would follow the route via Jogiwala, ladpur, Sahastradhara Crossing, IT Park, Sai Mandir, Old Rajpur Road and Kuthal Gate on way to Mussoorie.

 Vehicles going to Haridwar from Mussoorie would follow the route via Kuthal Gate, Old Rajpur Road, Saibaba Mandir, IT Park, Sahastradhara Crossing, Raipur Ring Road and Jogiwala. Vehicles going to Mussoorie from Delhi, Haryana, Roorkee, ISBT and Vikasnagar would follow the route via Ballupur check-post, Cantt, Anarwala, Johdi, Purukul and Kuthal Gate. Vehicles going to Delhi, Haryana, Roorkee, ISBT, Vikasnagar would follow the route via Kuthal Gate, Purukul, Johdi  Anarwala, Cantt, Ballupur check post and GMS Road.

 Vehicles going towards Mussoorie diversion from Ajanta Hotel would follow the route via Canal Road and Sai Mandir. One- way system will be enforced from Diversion to Ajanta Hotel. In case the parking, the parking lots of the hotels and other parking sites in Mussoorie are filled to full capacity the commuters will be sent back via various stretches of roads like Kuthal gate to old Rajpur Road, Sai Mandir or Johdi to Ballupur or IT Park to Sahastradhara Crossing. Cheetah police will be pressed into patrolling from Kuthal Gate to Mussoorie and two units of CPU would also be pressed into service to maintain traffic system there.

 He said that parking arrangements have been made at library Chowk, Taxi Stand, MDDA Park, Kempty taxi stand, multistorey parking, picture place, municipal council parking, Kinkraig parking site and South Road, behind Clock Tower. In view of heavy traffic load on various roads of Mussoorie, commuters would be told to stay for a while at Kuthal Gate, Kolhukhet and JP crossing and they would sent towards Mussoorie in small groups, he added.
