Peru, Harayana to work for their growth

Peru has expressed interest to work in close coordination  with Haryana Government in fields of mutual interest like agriculture and animal husbandry.

The Ambassador of Peru to India, Jose JG Betancourt R, who called on Haryana Chief Minister Manohar lal here on Wednesday evinced keen interest in growth story of Haryana and described it as a fast growing State of India.

He said that Peru and Haryana have huge financial opportunities. Therefore, both should work closely to build strong business ties.

 While welcoming the delegation led by the Ambassador, the Chief Minister said that Haryana and Peru have many similarities. Both are equal in size in terms of population. He also accepted the offer to work together and said that this would go a long way in building strong business relations between Haryana and Peru.

Jose informed the Chief Minister that Peru is the fastest growing economy in latin America with a GDP growth of 5.5 per cent. He said that Peru, besides being an agrarian country with wheat and cotton as its main crops also has rich mines of gold and silver. 

The Ambassador said that an International Gold and Silver Conference is slated to be held in Peru in the month of May which would be the largest such conference in the world. A large number of people of Indian origin dealing in gold and silver are also expected to participate in this conference. 

He also invited Manohar lal to lead a delegation to Peru. The Chief Minister assured him that he would positively consider his invitation.

Jose said that both India and Peru have the oldest civilization and people of Peru have deep respect for the history, culture and traditions of India. “You have set an example for the world”, he added.
