People behind violence, won't be spared: Khattar

Monday, 29 February 2016 | PNS | Chandigarh

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar lal on Sunday said that the State Government is taking serious action on the news report about alleged inappropriate behavior with some women during the Jat quota protest at Murthal in Sonipat district.

A special investigation team comprising three senior women police officers has been constituted. One could give any related information or evidence to the team over the telephone or through letter or online. If any such untoward incident happened, the guilty would be punished”, Manohar lal said.

An all-women inquiry committee set up by Haryana government to probe the alleged mass gang rapes of women began its probe on Saturday, with a couple of witnesses claiming to have seen hooligans assaulting some women.

The State Government’s inquiry committee, which is headed by a woman, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Rajshree Singh, also has two women Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), Bharti Dabas and Surinder Kaur have started the probe into the reported incidents, said a police official.

According to the Sonipat Police officials, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) has recorded statements of the eyewitnesses in front of the magistrate, but added that there has been no major breakthrough in the case as of now. We have also examined the footage from local dhaba, there's no recording of any molestation, said the official.

Meanwhile,  Haryana Chief Minister has expressed deep anguish over the recent unfortunate incidents that caused loss of innocent lives and property and put the general public to lot of inconvenience. Assuring that the guilty would not be spared, he has appealed to the people to share with the police any information they had, leave the past behind, and help re-establish brotherhood in the state.

In a statement issued here, Manohar lal said that some rowdy elements committed the crimes of looting and arson by taking the law in their own hands and disrupted peace in the state.

“Each and every person involved in such incidents would be identified and strict action would be taken against them”, the Chief Minister averred.

Those who played direct or indirect role in such incidents are being identified with the help of witnesses and audio and video clips. The people should come forward and give to the government if they have any information in this regard. The state Government would compensate those whose property, including residential or commercial, was damaged during these incidents, he added.

“People of all castes and religions have always lived together in the spirit of brotherhood in Haryana. I have full faith that the people of Haryana would soon move on leaving behind these unfortunate incidents,  strengthen the feeling of brotherhood and join the efforts being made by the state government for the development of the state”, he added.

The Chief Minister appealed to the people to come forward and help in re-establishing peace and brotherhood in the state and realize the vision of Haryana Ek – Haryanvi Ek.
