Vice-Chairman of Chhattisgarh State Rural and Other Backward Area Development Authority and Khallari MlA Chunnilal Sahu has informed Chief Minister Raman Singh that Odisha Government has agreed to release water from Patora Water Reservoir for Baghbahara-Khallari area of Mahasamund district of Chhattisgarh.

The MlA had called on the Chief Minister at his office in his official residence in Raipur on Tuesday.

Sahu also informed the Chief Minister about the various grievances related to the area, on behalf of the delegation of villagers.

As per the latest information received, the water will be supplied to bordering villages of Chhattisgarh through canal. This will bring relief to farmers in some villages, who were suffering due to scanty rainfall.

For this, Sahu had ensured repairing of aquaduct of Natai Canal, which was damaged due to heavy rainfall last year.

He had also requested Water Resources Department  officers of Odisha to supply water to Baghbahara-Khallari area, while informing about the MoU signed between Chhattisgarh and Odisha years ago for distribution of water.
