NTPC Kaniha produced 23,754 MU power in 2015-16

The NTPC Kaniha power station has generated 23,754 MU power during the fiscal year 2015-16 till March 28 last with PlF (Plant load factor) of 90.89 per cent as compared to last year’s 23,482 MW having PlF of 90.09 per cent. The station generated more 272 MW power with improvement in PlF of 0.80 per cent and expects to achieve PlF of 91per cent by March, informed Talcher Kaniha unit Executive Director N K Kothari at a Press meet here.

The station currently ranked 4th in  the country  in terms of PlF amongst all the Thermal Power Stations (TPSs ),ranked 3rd amongst all NTPC stations. It had highest coal stock of 11.04 lMT on April 16, 2015 and had highest PlF for the month of December 2015.

Till date more than 12.80 lakh trees have been planted by Talcher Kaniha unit in and around the power station. As a special project, plantation of 2, 00,000 saplings in Bhaluki and Satyabandha has been undertaken through OFDC at Rs 5 crore.

For maximum ash utilization, the station has completed study through CMPDI for mine void filling in future. The station will submit the report for MOEF for further clearance. The station has plans to have a new silo with railway rack facilities for ash transportation with investment of Rs 121 crore. The work of Ash Park is also in progress in collaboration with district administration, he said.

The existing MS ash slurry pipe lines are being replaced with Cast Basalt Pipe lines as a protection measure. The purpose is to achieve zero leakage through ash pipe lines.

ESP renovation and modernization for both Stage-I and II has been taken up to meet the future environment norms of the Pollution Control Board. As a commitment towards venturing in to environment friendly renewable source of energy, 10 MW Solar Plant was commissioned at Talcher Kaniha. Besides, in the CSR sector, the station took a series of initiatives, said Kothari.
