Notice to MP officer for 'liking' Facebook post against Modi

Tuesday, 31 May 2016 | Staff Reporter | Bhopal

The State Government has issued notice to Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer and former Barwani Collector Ajay Gangwar for liking a post against Prime Minister Narendra Modi over social networking site Facebook.

On Monday, the State Government issued the notice to Gangwar through email for liking the post, said to be an article over bringing 'jankranti' (social revolution) against Modi.

The State Government has asked Gangwar to reply to the notice within seven days.

On other hand, Gangwar said how could liking of an article or a post on social networking site could be considered as against the Government or its policies. According to him, the State Government had not acted over the comments made by him on country's first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru in a Facebook post. Neither has the Government sought any explanation over that post of mine that was later deleted by me, he added. He said that the Government's objection is over the liking of an article against Modi. Is it an offence to like an article of Kanhaiya on Facebook or some communal post by someone, he asked.
