No support for solar power projects in rural houses

The State Government has no proposal to provide financial support for establishment of rooftop solar power projects in individual houses in rural areas, informed Science and Technology Minister Pradeep Panigrahy in the Assembly on Thursday.

To a question of MlA Abhiram Nayak, the Minister, however, informed that educational institutions and Utkal Balashrams are being provided financial support to set up solar power project by the Science and Technology and SC and ST Development Departments

The State Government has targeted to establish solar power projects of a total 3-MW capacity during the current year and 45 MW during the coming five years. While projects of 5MW has been set for 2007-18, 7MW for  2018-19, 8 MW for 2019-10, 10 MW for 2020-21 and 15 MW has been set for 2021-22, the Minister said.
