The National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) has announced its plans to set up an office in Bhubaneswar to boost the IT and ITES sector in eastern India.
NASSCOM chairman CP Gurnani has also reiterated its commitment to explore further opportunities to partner with the Odisha Government of IT initiatives. He made the announcement at the end of a three-day NASSCOM leadership meet here on Monday.
The NASSCOM programme, considered as good platform for understanding the State’s key initiatives and local industries, was attended by the country’s top technology and BPM companies.
With the Make in Odisha Conclave scheduled from Wednesday here, the event was a catalyst to capitalise on the State’s business and entrepreneurial potentials. The IT-BPM industry plays a vital role in shaping the country’s economy by enriching technologies.
With the rapid revolution in this sector including some important projects like Digital India, Make in India, Skill India and Startup India, the Make in Odisha initiative is considered to a promising one for exploring opportunities in State for industries like IT.
Gurnani said the NASSCOM is immediately opening its office at the Odisha Computer Applications Centre (OCAC) in the city. The State Government has promised to give land free of cost for construction of the proposed new NASSCOM office.
Addressing the NASSCOM Executive Committee Offsite, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik assured the association that he would ensure its continuing success. He said, ‘Indian IT industry has been remarkable for two very special reasons. One, it is the story of ordinary people doing extra-ordinary things; Two, it is the saga of what I call ‘the patriotic businessman’.’
Stating that when great minds assemble at a place to imagine a collective future, Patnaik said its impact has to be far-reaching. ‘Odisha needs people like you in every other sector so that the goal of human development guides our individual and our collective consciousness,’ he said.
Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi, DoEIT Principal Secretary Pradeep Jena, Skill Development & Technical Education Secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh and several other senior officers were present.
