Madhya Pradesh Human Rights Commission (MPHRC) taking cognizance of media reports that a surgeon in Jhansi on pretext of removing kidney stones removed a kidney and the uterus of a woman belonging to Tikamgarh district of the state asked the Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) and Superintendent of Police (SP) of Tikamgarh to submit report over the issue to the Commission.
MPHRC taking cognizance over news reports published in local media that Sumitra Raikwar resident of village Vagora of Jatara Tehsil in Tikamgarh district of the state lodged complaint with Tikamgarh Superintendent of Police (SP) on last Tuesday that she went to a surgeon in Jhansi to get her kidney stones removed where at the place of removing kidney stones her uterus was removed and probably during that her one kidney was also removed.
The victim Sumitra Raikwar resident of village Vagora of Jatara Tehsil in Tikamgarh district of the state said in her complaint that the pathological investigations carried out prior to her operation shows that she was having both her kidneys.
After the operation, she again fell ill and underwent ultrasound in that it was found that her one kidney was missing. Shocked over the reports she approached the SP asking to take legal action against the surgeon.
News of this whole incidence was published in the news papers; the MPHRC took cognizance of it and write to Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) and SP Tikamgarh to submit report over it to the Commission.
