The players of the Madhya Pradesh State Water Sports Academy have glorified the name of the State by winning gold and silver medals of the senior Yachting Association of India (YAI) the national tournament.
The pair of Academy’s players - Ekta Yadav and Shaila Charles - has bagged a gold medal in the women category of the 49 metre team event of the national tournament.
Similarly, the pair of Academy’s player Aman Vyas and Shubham Pillai has won a silver medal in the men category of the 49 metre team event of the competition.
Notably, Aman Vyas, Ekta Yadav and Shaila Charles are Eklavya awardees and were trained by the Arjun award winner and Sailing’s Chief Coach Gl Yadav.
Sports and Youth Welfare Minister, Yashodhara Raje Scindia expressed happiness for the achievement of the players. She also congratulated the players for winning medals during the national tournament.
Director of Sports and Youth Welfare, Upendra Jain also expressed happiness over the achievements of the players and congratulated the players.
Meanwhile, the semi finals and quarter final matches of kabaddi and volley ball played during the state level competition on Friday under the ‘Khelo India’ scheme.
The team of Bhopal division beat the team of Indore division by 2-0 in the under 14 category while Chambal division beat the Jabalpur division by 2-0 in under 14 category of the kabaddi tournament.
Similarly, team of Bhopal division beat the team of Sagar division by 2-0 in the under 14 category (boys’) volley ball competition while the team of Narmadapuram division beat the team of Shahdol division by 2-0 in the under 14 category (girls’) competition. The final matches of the tournament would be played on Saturday.
