Farmers will be felicitated at a convention at the Chief Minister's House here at 5 pm on Sunday in the context of conferment of Krishi Karman Award to the State for consecutive 4th year. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will be present at the convention. Farmers Welfare and Agriculture Development Minister Gaurishankar Bisen, Finance Minister Jayant Malaiya and Panchayats and Rural Development Minister Gopal Bhargava will also be present.
Farmers with outstanding contribution in productivity and production will be felicitated at the convention. They would be given honorarium worth Rs 50,000 each. The departments due to whose contribution agriculture has grown in the State will also be felicitated
The State has witnessed major achievements in agriculture sector during the last 10 years. With the Chief Minister's policies and agenda to give top priority of farmers' welfare, the State's agriculture growth has increased from 14.76 per cent to 20.11 per cent in just four years.
As a result, the State was conferred Krishi Karman Award for maximum food grains production in the years 2011-12, 2012-13 and 2014-15 and maximum wheat production in the year 2013-14. This major achievement has been made possible through the Government's policies, hard work of the farmers and efforts of field officers and employees.
