Continuing their search for the second day, the Commissionerate Police on Saturday claimed to have retrieved more cash, arms and ammunitions from the houses and offices of the arrested mafia Dhalsamant brothers, who jointly have nearly two dozen criminal cases pending against them at various Police Stations across the State.

Sushil Kumar Dhalsamant, editor of a weekly news magazine, chief patron of a city-based youth organisation and director of Metaphor Trans Corporation Pvt ltd, and his elder brother Sushant were remanded to jail custody after they were produced in the SDJM Court here late on Friday night.

Police also moved the court on Saturday to take the brothers on remand for ten days for further questioning. A police team left for Visakhapatnam on the day while another one would leave for Kolkata on Sunday to conduct more searches there as the brothers were also learnt to be operating from these localities having offices.

“In all, we have seized a .9mm carbine gun, a double-barrel gun and four .9mm mousers and 150 ammunitions and cash of over `2.67 crore during the searches conducted in their houses in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack,” said Cuttack DCP Sanjib Arora, adding that several bank instruments, including 15 ATM cards, were also seized.
