Amidst speculation that he might join politics, Deputy Commissioner of Moga Kuldip Singh Vaid today resigned from his service although he declined to give any further details.
“I have sought voluntary retirement and have sent my resignation to the Chief Secretary of Punjab,” said Vaid, adding that he would attend the office up to December 1.
“There is a lot of pressure on me to contest (2017 Punjab Assembly) polls,” he said without divulging anything more.
However, he said he has resigned on personal and family grounds. Vaid, who hails from ludhiana, is a 1992 batch PCS officer promoted to IAS in 2007. His retirement was due in year 2021.
When asked whether Congress has offered party ticket to him from Jagraon assembly constituency, he said that he would lend his services to the party if required.
