Miscreants struck terror in Meerut

Unidentified miscreants struck terror in Meerut by throwing acid on three female members of a family causing serious injuries late on Tuesday night. The victims were admitted to a primary health centre in Mawana.

The police after registering a case are working on all probably motives especially on the `jilter lover’ theory as youths were involved and one of the victims had spurned a yoiuth. The cops were also scanning call detail records (CDRs) of the victims's mobile numbers to get a lead. Two of the suspects have been detained for quizzing. 

As per reports, 18-year-old Zareena (name changed), of Mohalla Saheed Bhagat Singh in Phalwda police station area was sleeping on the terrace along with her sisters-in-law Fatima (20) and Zubeda (25) on Tuesday night.

A little past midnight, all three suddenly woke up after feeling a burning sensation on their faces and body parts. They screamed for help after which other family members rushed to their rescue. Taking advantage of the chaso, the miscreants jumped off and escaped. 

All three had suffered burn injuries as acid was thrown on them. They were shifted to a hospital and the police was later informed. The family members did not name any person in the FIR but revealed some identity. Further interrogations are on in the matter.

Meanwhile in Muzaffarnagar, two persons were booked for attempting to rape a 14-year-old girl at Kakroli locality  on Tuesday night.

A case was registered against Asif and Javed for forcin their way into the victim's house and attempting to rape her. Asif was beaten up by the locals and handed over to the police. However, some other accused managed to abscond. 

In another incident, a 9-year-old boy was allegedly sodomised in Kotwali area of Muzaffarnagar. A case was been registered against Shahid and efforts are on to arrest him. The boy was lured by the accused to a room by promising toffees and later sodomised. 

In another in Etah, a 40-year-old woman was harassed and assaulted at her house by four persons from her village on Tuesday evening. 

In her complaint, the victim alleged that Ram Prakash along with three others entered her home in Ramnagar village and harassed her on Tuesday evening. They also beat her up when she resisted. Her neighbors rushed to the house upon hearing her cries for help, but the accused had fled by then. Police lodged an FIR against all four persons but no arrests could be made so far.
