The Derabish police led by its IIC Niranjan Sabar on Friday arrested two persons in connection with duping of depositors by a mini bank run by Palei Service Co-operative Society.
They were identified as society secretary Prafulla Kumar Samal and cashier Himanshu Sekhar Parida.
The duo was on Friday produced in the SDJM court of Kendrapada where they were remanded in jail custody.
Meanwhile, the prime accused and the kingpin of the case, Alekha Kumar Biswal, retired from service in March last. He was absconding and police launched a manhunt to nab him. Biswal was assistant secretary-cum- accountant of Palei Service Co-operative Society
During investigation, it was found that the bank cashier and other employees embezzled the deposited money in connivance with a few others of the society. The police seized the ledger book and other related documents.
As many as 40 depositors submitted their pass books at the Derabish police station alleging that they were cheated of their hard earned money deposited in the mini bank. later, they were
verified by the mini bank and the allegation was found to be true.
