Max Bupa Walk for Health organised in city

In order to inspire the people of Dehradun to lead healthier lives and discover the multiple benefits of walking, Max Bupa Health Insurance and Max Super Speciality Hospital, jointly hosted Max Bupa Walk for Health, a mega walking event in the city on Sunday. The three kilometer walking event, which began from the famous Gandhi Road, united over 3000 people from different age groups including senior citizens, families as well as college and school students to take a step towards a healthier lifestyle.

The event was flagged off by Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Harish Rawat, actor Soha Ali Khan along with Ashish Mehrotra, Managing Director and CEO, Max Bupa and Rajit Mehta, Managing Director and CEO - Max Super Speciality Hospital, Dehradun. The guests also inaugurated Max Institute of Joint Pain & Mobility Clinic in the city.

Max Bupa Walk for Health, introduced in 2012, is a unique initiative which has been motivating thousands of families across cities to incorporate more walking into their daily routine, to bring about long term positive sustainable behavioural change into their lives. After successfully encouraging thousands of families across 5 states, 15 cities and hundreds of towns and villages, MaxBupa Walk for Health event reached the city of Dehradun.

Talking about the initiative, Ashish Mehrotra, Managing Director and CEO,Max Bupa, said “As a health insurance specialist, our purpose is to help people lead healthier, more successful lives.  Max Bupa Walk for Health Survey 2016 has revealed that almost 50% of Indians don’t exercise regularly. Over the last four years, we have been encouraging people across cities, towns and villages to incorporate more walking into their daily lives. This year, with ‘Walk India Walk’ as our theme, we have been able to inspire thousands of citizens across the country to take up walking as an exercise. We are delighted to see thousands of people in Dehradun join the health movement and take a pledge to walk towards a healthier lifestyle.”

In his address, Rajit Mehta, CEO & MD of Max Healthcare said “Max Hospital was established three and a half years ago with a dream of bringing international class tertiary care to the people of Dehradun and the nearby regions. The vision has turned to reality and has bridged the gap of specialized medical services in Uttarakhand. Today’s event – Max Bupa Walk for Health received huge participation from the general public. In sync with this year’s ‘Walk India Walk’ theme, the entire community came together to participate in the mega event which was aimed at generating maximum awareness about healthier lifestyle habits. The objective of the event was to create awareness about how regular screening can detect joint damage symptoms at an early stage. The people who participated , motivated several others to remain determined throughout their journey and not lose hope at any time.’’
