The ruling Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Wednesday said that it was condemnable that someone like Manpreet Badal, who had first misled Punjabis by swearing to follow the ideals of the revolutionaries, was now indulging in rank “chamchagiri” to get a toe hold in the Congress.
“Manpreet has, by his actions a day before, proved that he is ready to demean himself to win the favour of Punjab Congress president Capt Amarinder Singh…
What else can explain the downright humiliating and abject surrender of all ethics and morals by Manpreet in announcing that the Punjab Congress is being led by a clean Amarinder,” said SAD secretary and spokesperson Daljit Singh Cheema.
Cheema asked Manpreet to tell the people why he had never been able to see the clean in Amarinder earlier. “Is it because you have now decided to dye yourself in the Congress culture of chamchagiriIJ Has the Manpreet of the People's Party of Punjab days who used to swear by revolutionaries like Bhagat Singh become a mere chamchaIJ” asked Cheema.
SAD leader said that it was also strange that a well-read person like Manpreet, who was fond of quoting from the newspapers, had not kept himself abreast with recent disclosures against Capt Amarinder, while citing recent reports regarding Capt Amarinder’s son and wife allegedly stashing money abroad in foreign countries by opening accounts and trusts.
Branding Manpreet as “an undisciplined person”, Cheema said that the former first deserted his mother party and jumped on to the bandwagon of the anti-Punjab Congress and now he was creating divisions in Congress ranks by openly defying Congress affairs in-charge of Punjab, Asha Kumari.
Cautioning Manpreet to not overlook ethical principles in trying to prove his loyalty towards Capt Amarinder, Cheema reminded him of his days as a cabinet minister in Punjab government at which time he spoke in harsh about Capt Amarinder and often put a question mark over the credentials of former Chief Minister.
