A man allegedly killed his wife after she gave birth to a girl child.
The shocking incident was reported from Gadamahaveer under the lingaraj police limits here on Friday. The deceased was identified as Tilottama Sahu.
According to the reports, Surendra Sahu, who works as an auto rickshaw driver, had married Tilottama in 2012. Tilottama, who had given birth to a girl child in 2013, delivered another girl a week ago.
A quarrel had broken out between the couple Thursday over the birth of the second girl child, following which Surendra thrashed Tilottama. She was taken to the Capital Hospital here, but doctors declared her brought dead.
Tilottama’s brother lodged a complaint at the lingaraj police station. Based on the complaint, police arrested Surendra and forwarded him to court.
