A person who was nabbed by CBI sleuths in connection with a murder case tried to commit suicide on Thursday.
“ When the incident happened, Shiv Kumar Vaishnav was with CBI officials,” Superintendent of Police (SP), Raipur, Sanjeev Shukla confirmed while adding that he was not having further details regarding the incident as CBI was investigating the case.
Meanwhile, sources informed that a team of CBI sleuths had nabbed Vaishnav for questioning him in connection with murder of scribe Umesh Rajput. Rajput was shot at his home at Gariaband in 2011.
Vaishnav and one another person was brought to Raipur from Gariaband and were being questioned by the CBI officials. Giving the excuse of attending nature’s call, Vaishnav went to the toilet and tried to commit suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling, sources said while adding that when officials noted that he was taking too long in the toilet, they broke in and rescued Vaishnav.
He was then rushed to Dr BR Ambedkar Memorial Hospital where his condition was stated to be critical.
