The capacity of children’s ward will be increased to 60 beds from 40 beds at the Indira Gandhi Women and Children Hospital, Bhopal. Also registration counters will be increased to six in place of four, elevator will be installed and world class blood bank will also be established in the hospital. Announcement in this regard was made by the Minister of State for Bhopal Gas Tragedy, Relief, Rehabilitation and Cooperatives Vishwas Sarang.
Work related to all these will commence within a week. He was dedicating the new delivery ward having 40 beds built with a cost of `35.65 lakh here on Tuesday.
Sarang said that keeping in view the better medical facilities, all the hospital and dispensaries of gas relief will be upgraded. A joint meeting of Public Health and family Welfare, Gas Relief and Rehabilitation, medical Education and labour Minister will be held soon. Better medical facilities will be provided to the citizens of Bhopal with coordination and cooperation of all the hospitals under these departments.
Sarang informed that a letter has been written by the State Government for every possible help to the Central Government as regard to bring improvement in the medical facilities being provided by the BMHRC.
Sarang further informed that number of bed problem in gas relief hospitals will be eliminated. Not more than one child should be accommodated in one bed, he added. After the establishment of blood bank, needs of other hospital besides Sultania hospital will be taken care of. He said that the up gradation of new ward will be taken soon.
Minister of State Sarang mentioned that a deep study is being conducted on the rehabilitation of the victims apart from better facilities and relief. Scheme is being prepared to provide employment to the victims through cooperatives.
MlA Surendra Nath Singh, Director Gas Tragedy, Relief and Rehabilitation Krishna Gopal Tiwari and Director Kamla Nehru Gas Relief Hospital KK Dubey also addressed the programme.
Sarang handed over the keys of the ambulances each to the Indira Gandhi and Kamla Nehru Hospital. He honoured Neeraj Pandey and Manoj Sharma to complete the work of the ward within the stipulated time period.
