After repeated complaints against a liquor shop at lalpur Chowk, Additional Commissioner (Excise) Rakesh Kumar Singh on Wednesday made a visit to the shop in the morning. He warned the shop owner of losing his shop licence if problems allegedly arising there were not resolved immediately. In its latest one, the local residents from a ‘sensitive’ community accompanied by some local Congress leaders turned upset after a rumour that a drunkard was found urinating near a sacred place of the community two days ago.
As the sacred month of Ramzan is on, the excise department took the complaint seriously and made a visit to the shop at priority basis. Some local residents had made a formal complaint to excise office about a shop owner by one Hari Mahto, who holds license for two liquor shops at lalpur Chowk. The residents had accused that the shop had turned a holy place for frequent quarrels and fights of daily drinkers.
After the visit along with local administration, Singh said that the matter was not as sensitive on the ground as was presumed by the department. However, he said that the shop owner was warned to keep the shop premise a ‘cultured’ place.
