The first meeting of legislative Committee of Chhattisgarh Assembly constituted for year 2016-17 for public sector enterprises (PSEs) was held on Wednesday.
“Committees have a vital role to play in parliamentary administrative system, Speaker of Chhattisgarh legislative Assembly Gaurishankar Agrawal said while addressing the meeting.
Through this Committee, the legislature keeps a tab on the working of various public enterprises of the State.
The Committee generally examines the report presented by public enterprises, autonomy and efficiency of such enterprises as well as CAG, the Speaker added.
According to Agrawal, the members of the committee also examine that whether public money is being utilised for what it is meant by various corporation/boards or not.
He expressed full confidence that the Committee through more numbers of meetings will examine the pending cases and will present its report.
The occasion was marked with presence of Chairman of Committee Shivratan Sharma, members including Awdhesh Singh Chandel, Ramlal Chauhan, Ashok Sahu, Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, Manoj Singh Mandavi, Principal Secretary of Chhattisgarh Assembly Devendra Verma, Secretary, Finance department Amit Agrawal and representative of CAG in Chhattisgarh K Sai Shankar.
