A schedule three wild life jackal was rescued by a woman enroute to Daltonganj from Bhandarya on the evening of Monday at Ramkanda November 28, said sources.
Sources said the woman district programme officer of JSlPS in the Bhandarya block in Garhwa district was returning from Bhandarya when she saw a bus going ahead of her vehicle hitting a jackal which suffered a severe blow by bus on its face and started faltering.
The woman got down from her vehicle and took care of the injured jackal and brought this wild life to the notice of the DFO Core of the PTR who has his official residence here in Daltonganj.
Confirming this DFO Core A K Mishra said on Tuesday November 29 the lady Sartaj Khanam once in the in the job of PTR before leaving for her assignment in the Gahrwa district based Bhandarya block rescued the jackal which was hit by a bus and she later on reaching Daltonganj handed it down to my personal staff here in Daltonganj. He said local vets were called in for its treatment.
The injured jackal has been treated and is responding to the medicine he added.
Mishra said it is not that easy to treat any injured wild life as pinning it down for intramuscular injection great labour is needed. Three to four people get it down for injection administration he reiterated.
When told that this lady has had her grooming in the PTR and so she cared for the injured jackal on the road Mishra said ' This is very true. She took all care that was possible for her. The bleeding jackal had even reddened the floor of her vehicle.'
