Kujang hospital name change move opposed

Thursday, 30 June 2016 | PNS | JAGATSINGHPUR

The civil society members of Kujang area have opposed changing Kujang hospital's name from Udaya Nath Charitable Trust Dispensary to Kujang Community Health Centre (CHC).

Reports said for providing health facilities to residents of Kujang area, the then Zamindar Udaya Chand Mahatab's family had established a charitable trust and dispensary at Kujang headquarters in 1893. The hospital was converted to a Government hospital after independence and received the CHC status recently. The hospital has meanwhile been renovated and a new building would be inaugurated shortly in its campus. The Health Department has been planning to name it as Kujang CHC.

"If the hospital name is changed, it will be a disregard to late Zamidar Udaya Chand Mahatab who had first launched the hospital here," said advocate ND Jadav. The locals have decided in a meeting held on Sunday to start a stir if the hospital's name is changed.
