In connection with the murder of hardcore Susant Das alias Khasua, the Baleswar police on Wednesday arrested two more persons involved in the crime and forwarded them court. With this, the police have so far arrested six persons, including four earlier on two different dates.
The duo arrested now are Tanmoy Panda alias Kunu (33) of village Sovarampur and Ganesh Biswal alias Chagulu (19) of Orodbazar, both under the Sahadevkhunta police station.
Kunu is an ex-Councillor of the Balasore municipality and brother of the main accused of Papa Panda, who is still at large. Kunu has criminal antecedents and was arrested in 2012 on the charge of extortion when he was a Councillor.
Baleswar Superintendent of Police Niti Sekhar told the media that Kunu was arrested near Ranital when he was on the run. Both Kunu and Chagulu have confessed to the crime. They played a role in the killing of Khasua on June 22 evening.
The SP also stated that about 30 persons were involved in the crime and that more arrests would be made.
Khasua's wife had alleged that Papa Panda and his accomplices were involved in the crime.
