Kerala won the 41st Power Companies’ Chess Tournament that concluded here on Sunday. In all, a total of 16 teams had taken part in the Chess tourney which had started on February 26.
The Chhattisgarh State-owned power companies had organized the event in which last year’s runners-up Gujarat again grabbed the second place while Madhya Pradesh was at the third position.
Besides team events, individual players were awarded for outstanding performance in the game. In the individual category Rajiven PV (Kerala) secured 1st position, while KR lal (Gujarat) was at 2nd, MS Siddiqui (Uttar Pradesh) at 3rd position and KV Halani from Gujarat was at 4th place. The winners were felicitated with trophy, memento and individual prizes.
Mukesh Singhania President of Chhattisgarh State Chess Association presided over the concluding ceremony. He congratulated to the winner and said in any game one player wins and while the other learns. This is the beauty of every game.
