Jhajjar residents boycott Dhankar

Monday, 29 February 2016 | PNS | Chandigarh

Haryana senior Minister Om Parkash Dhankar had to face the wrath of riot-affected Jhajjar residents on Sunday during his visit to the town.

In a protest against the BJP led State Government which is under fire for inept handling of the Jat reservation agitation, the kin of the deceased of caste violence who were attacked by agitating mob closed the doors of their houses for Haryana's Agriculture Minister OP Dhankar, who visited Jhajjar on Sunday.

A total 13 persons, including 4 non-jats have fallen prey to caste violence on Jhajjar last week.

As per the reports, Dhankar had gone to Chhawni Colony of Jhajjar where 4 men of non-jat community had fallen prey to agitating Jat mob.

The families not only closed doors and refused to meet the Minister but also shouted slogan against Dhankar.

Dhankar while talking to the mediapersons later blamed the Congress party for creating this situation in Haryana.

“Congress party as well as their leaders are responsible for this bloodshed in Haryana. The State Government is investigating and will punish the culprits involved in inciting the agitation,” said Dhankar.

While announcing to donate his one month salary, the Minister also urged the panchayats and locals to contribute towards rehabilitation of violence victims.

Both Chief Minister Manohar lal Khattar and former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, who visited Rohtak last week, also had to face the ire of traders and shopkeepers, who had suffered heavy losses.
