The Jawans and officers of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) would soon learn Chinese language from the Sanchi University of Buddhist – Indic Studies.
The ITBP has nominated four officers for the Chinese language course to be started from July in the university. Of the four officers nominated for the course three are inspectors and one is sub-inspector.

The officers of 18th Battalion, 48th Battalion and 49th Battalion would reside in the university for a year to learn the Chinese language. In this manner the university is playing its role in the strategically important Chinese language field.
ITBP executes the responsibility of securing the Indo – Chinese borders and the Jawans and officesr of ITBP are posted on the northern borders of the country from Karakoram pass of laddakh to Jachep la pass of Arunachal Pradesh in different posts and borders. This distance is about 3488 kilometers and these Jawans secure the borders of the country in very adverse conditions. Knowing language that is spoken in the villages near to Chinese borders is very useful tool for them.
A total of 24 persons have applied for the Chinese language course to be started by the Sanchi University of Buddhist – Indic University and it is expected that the total applications for the course could reach up to 35. There are a total of 20 seats for this course and the last date to apply for it is June 30. The course would be completed in two semesters and the fee for the course is Rs 20, 000 per semester. There is no written exam for admission in this course and the selection would be held only on the basis of personal interview.
