The Bada Bazar police busted an IPl betting racket here on Sunday and arrested one E Suresh Kumar. Cash of Rs 7.91 lakh, 175 gram of gold jewellery, 10 mobile phones and a diary bearing names and numbers of IPl gamblers were seized from the possession of the arrested person.
Police sources said Kumar was the main bookie operating the betting racket in the city. He was in touch with other bookies of Mumbai and Visakhapatnam.
In last month, Bada Bazar police had busted a betting racket and arrested four persons. SDPO Santanu Kumar Das, Brahmapur Thana IIC Ajaya Kumar Mishra and Bada Bazar IIC Suresh Kumar Tripathy were present during the raid.
