A good academic institution attempts not only to teach students but also to make them wise, said National Board of Accreditation and former IIT Delhi Director Prof Surendra Prasad while delivering the convocational address at the fifth convocation of the IIT Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.
He advised the students to make India a centre of entrepreneur revolution. He called upon them to contribute new engineering concepts or quality engineering products in key areas to solve the problems of housing, food security, and transportation that can facilitate the large population to live quality life with dignity.
He also said the students should be excellent in both academics and extracurricular endeavours. Board of Governors of IIT Bhubaneswar Chairman Pankaj Ramanbhai Patel, Institutre Director Prof RV Raja Kumar and members of the Board and the Senate were present.
A total of 241 meritorious students, including seven doctoral candidates, received their degrees.
Priyam Dey of the School of Electrical Sciences was conferred with the ‘President of India Medal’ for best academic performance among the entire outgoing BTech batch. The Director’s gold medal was awarded to Shubhashree Subudhi of the School of Mechanical Sciences for best academic performance among the entire outgoing MTech batch.
