On the occasion of National Science Day, Indira Gandhi Agricultural University (IGAU) held a workshop on the theme ‘Make in India: Biotechnology Driven Innovation in Agriculture, Medicine, Bio-Engineering and Industry’.
Scientists across the nation presented their opinions and research papers at the workshop.
At the outset, Dr Vilas Parikh delivered his address on genetic modified varieties.
He also spoke about the new researches in this field.
Dr PK Patra of Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College and Chhattisgarh Biotech Society discussed about the policies and opportunities of biotech startups wherein he mentioned about the framework prepared by the State government to boost up the biotech field.
He said a Biotech Park is proposed for Chhattisgarh. The participating college students presenting papers on biotech were felicitated by Chhattisgarh Science and Technology Council General Director Dr MM Hambarde and Dr Urkurkar, DRS of the IGAU at the valedictory session.
Dr Hambarde encouraged the students stating that the field of biotech is an effective branch.
